MEET MARY

Hello and welcome, I’m Mary! I am a Functional Nutritional Therapy
Practioner dedicated to supporting my clients optimize their health
so they may live life on their terms. In other words, I counsel clients
about how to fuel their body, use of nutritional supplements, and
lifestyle choices that allows their body’s innate ability to balance itself
and thrive.

My story: When I was in my 20s I didn’t think too much about what I ate. If it
tasted good, I ate it. I didn’t make the connection between how I fed
my body and how well or unwell I felt.

Fast forward 10 years and my allopathic doc tells me I’m on the way
to becoming pre-diabetic. There was no discussion about what that
meant, what I should do about it or where I could find reliable sources
of information. There was a declaration. And then a whole lot of
NOTHING. So, I did nothing. I didn’t take it seriously. Why should I? If
my doctor didn’t feel the topic warranted a conversation, then was
there really anything to worry about?

Another 10 years go by and I learn I am knocking on DIABETES door.
It was time to take my health seriously. There was no way I was going
to allow diabetes rule my life. I was determined to figure out how to
change the course of my health. I spent hours with Dr. Google. I
talked to people. Lots of people. Then I met someone who reversed
his pre-diabetes by changing his diet. Finally! I felt like I had found a
way to help myself.

I enrolled in a class taught by a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner to
learn how to properly feed my body and balance my blood sugar.
Within three months I was no longer pre-diabetic.

There’s always more to the story:

  • I am a recovering binge eater, sugar addict and stress denier
  • I believe in the nourishing power of real food
  • I have a weakness for potato chips
  • I love red, yellow and orange bell peppers but not green
  • I am working on feeling more confident riding a bike
  • I am constantly reading and researching because there is always more to learn
  • I follow Dr. Ben Lynch, Mark Hyman MD, Terry Wahls MD. Brene Brown PhD, LMSW, and The Weston A. Price Foundation
  • Favorite quote: When you have more than you need, build a longer table, not a higher fence.

I remain a work in progress and continue to use the power of food, nutritional supplements and lifestyle to work toward balance. Contact me If you would like help in changing your health trajectory.
